Come Fly Away

top: urban outfitters, jeans: thrifted, boots: H&M, sunglasses: street vendor

My sister took these photos as well. I have had these jeans for months but they are so large on me that I have to wear them perfectly or they look a bit like they're eating me. I love them though!

Does anyone have plans for St. Paddy's day?

White Lips Kissed

top is from Forever 21, cardigan, bag and shorts are thrifted, necklace is vintage, shoes are from Urban Outfitters. total cost: $35

I've officially succeeded in becoming paler in the Missouri heat. I don't quite understand it, but it has happened. I am as white as paper. Whiter than paper. I almost want to bleach my hair and see if I turn completely invisible.

And I would like to share one of the best bands in the world with everyone: Mew. They're Danish, and one of my absolute favorites.

Here are a few songs by them:

enjoy! xoxo Megan

Outfit 1: crop top and skirt: DIY, bag: thrifted, boots and hair clip: Urban Outfitters, jewelry: vintage, gifts, thrifted. Total cost: $40

Outfit 2: floral crown: DIY, top and shorts: thrifted, perforated oxfords: Urban Outfitters, necklace: vintage. Total cost: $38

I designed this crop top/ skirt set from an old floor length dress that I picked up in a thrift store. I am so so happy with how it turned out - I've been wanting a crop top/skirt matching set since I saw the beautiful ones sold on Nasty Gal. I plan to make a few more soon! I have also decided that since most of what I buy is thrifted or sale items, I'm going to start posting the estimated total cost of my outfits.
The total cost of these two is so high because of the shoes in both outfits - I paid about $30 for each pair, which is a lot for me. I rarely pay over $15 for articles of clothing.

Cropped

I've had this bag forever and I cannot get enough of it lately. It's so wonderful. Sigh. I need more just like it!

I bought these shorts at a thrift store yesterday and I'm in love with them - though I now own around 3 pairs that look exactly the same. I'll have to figure out a DIY to do with one of them soon!

I've been in an off mood lately. This summer has been dragging on while at the same time going very quickly, and I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. I'm not ready to be back in New York yet but I don't really want to be home either. I have a lot to figure out in the next few years and I'm not really looking forward to it, but I'm sure that life will take me wherever I'm supposed to be! I just know for certain that it won't be in Kansas City (though it is the most amazing city on earth).

What I'm wearing: bag, shorts, sunglasses: thrifted, crop top: urban outfitters, headband thing: penneys, shoes: forever 21

I have some very exciting dresses and accessories in the mail at the moment and I can't wait to do some outfit posts with them - stay tuned! And I suppose I should give you some music to listen to...

Enjoy your summer - go swimming, get a tan (or don't, like me), write a book, listen to great music, get inspiration, learn a new language, a new instrument and a new skill so that I can live through you and pretend for 10 seconds that I've done anything remotely productive in the last month and a half.

Today was SO HOT. I'm already tired of the summer heat - I don't know what I'll do when summer actually gets here and it's 100+ degrees. I suppose I'll go swimming. A lot.

Or I'll just hide inside where there's air conditioning - probably the more likely option!

My obsession with bralets and crop tops is showing through with this outfit - and my obsession with Urban Outfitters shows too! I'm too predictable. Anyways, the bralet is from UO, you can get it here in a tan color. I'd had my eye on it for awhile and I finally caved and bought it. So happy!

I bought the skirt about a year ago at a thrift store when I was going through a midi/maxi skirt phase. The belt is also from a thrift store in my neighborhood. Again, I'm so predictable. I promise I'll wear something more exciting and less thrifted soon. (Not that thrifted clothes aren't exciting - they're so incredibly exciting! I love them!)

On that note, I'm going to go to sleep. It's been a long and tiring day.

The Blues

It seems like lately I've been wearing a LOT of blue clothing - it isn't intentional, and I'm not all that fond of the color blue, but apparently I own much more blue clothing than I knew about. Which I'm perfectly okay with. Today was mother's day and I celebrated by cooking lunch at my grandma's house with my mom. We made pizza - yum!

The crop top in the photos is from H&M and I'm quite proud of the purchase, as 20% of the amount I paid goes to help fund HIV/AIDS awareness projects. It is an amazing cause, and I'm so happy that H&M is able and willing to make the world a better place (while also selling adorable clothes!).

Outfit 1: hat: forever 21, dress: urban outfitters, cardigan: gift, denim shirt: thrifted, wedges: DSW
Outfit 2: crop top: H&M, jeans, backpack: thrifted, boots: penneys

Home at last

My first blog post. It's crazy that it's taken me this long to create my own blog. I've always wanted to, but I've never had the time to actually do it. Now I do though, and I'm so excited for it!

I've been in Dublin, Ireland for the past few months studying abroad for the semester. I had such an amazing time, but I'm glad to be home so I can focus on things like blogging and working for awhile. In my next post I'll include some photos of my trip.

Crop Top: Urban Outfitters, Combat Boots: Urban Outfitters, Shorts: Thrifted, Jewelry: Vintage, Thrifted
