Camp Beverly Hills

what I'm wearing:

cropped tee: c/o Camp Beverly Hills, shorts: thrifted, DIY, boots and bag: urban outfitters, sunglasses: charming charlie, acid wash shirt: thrifted, belt: forever 21, jewelry: gifts, thrifted, vintage

I got this ridiculously comfy cropped tee from the lovely Camp Beverly Hills a few days ago, and I'm obsessed. It is so so soft.

The company has a crazy history - it was established in 1977 and just this year has re-launched their iconic t-shirt. The brand is so sporty but has this vintage feel that I absolutely love. Check the rest of their clothes out here

After surviving a full week of classes I can honestly say that I think this will be a great semester. I just have this feeling that I'm going to learn so much, and I love learning more than anything. I'm going to try to keep up on my blogging but it'll be a little less frequent, as I don't have hours and hours of time on my hands every day, and I don't have an enormous vacated yard anymore, so it's much more difficult to take photos. I had my roommate take these and she'll be taking my photos for the next few outfits that I post, most likely, but I'm going to buy a remote and tripod soonish so that I can go farther away from campus to take my photos.

Outfit 1: crop top and skirt: DIY, bag: thrifted, boots and hair clip: Urban Outfitters, jewelry: vintage, gifts, thrifted. Total cost: $40

Outfit 2: floral crown: DIY, top and shorts: thrifted, perforated oxfords: Urban Outfitters, necklace: vintage. Total cost: $38

I designed this crop top/ skirt set from an old floor length dress that I picked up in a thrift store. I am so so happy with how it turned out - I've been wanting a crop top/skirt matching set since I saw the beautiful ones sold on Nasty Gal. I plan to make a few more soon! I have also decided that since most of what I buy is thrifted or sale items, I'm going to start posting the estimated total cost of my outfits.
The total cost of these two is so high because of the shoes in both outfits - I paid about $30 for each pair, which is a lot for me. I rarely pay over $15 for articles of clothing.

The Simplest DIY Ever.

What I'm wearing: shoes, bag, glasses: thrifted, shorts: thrifted & DIY, Hat: forever 21, top: no idea, but I cropped it myself

I was quite bored yesterday so I decided to do a DIY - I've been wanting to paint a pair of shorts for awhile now, I just couldn't decide what I wanted on them. I think they turned out just fine, though! I'm sad that I waited so long!

Anyways, what you need:
A pair of shorts
Fabric paint
Paint brushes
Newspaper (probably)
Inspiration for a pattern

This is incredibly self-explanatory, but that's okay I guess - it is my first DIY, after all!

First, make sure you put newspaper in your shorts, as the paint might leak through.

Figure out what kind of pattern you want - I did a really simple tribal inspired one that I basically copied from something I saw online. You can copy mine if you want, I don't care.

You may need to use a ruler or something to get the lines straight - I didn't use one, because it was a complete experiment. I just went for it, using the lines of the shorts.

Paint away!

Well there you go! I hope to do another pair soon, since I've now had a little bit of practice - I think I'll paint flowers on the next ones :)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Meditation Corner

I've spent the last few days putting together this wonderful meditation corner in my room. I was feeling a little bit too controlled by the internet and technology, so I decided to put away my laptop for an entire day (and I lasted for most of it - I'm shocked!) I thought I might be slightly more productive without it, and I suppose I was, a bit - I went running for the first time in a long time, read some, put this wonderful corner together, meditated a lot, spent way too much money, and spent way too much time playing hide and seek with my cats. I think the day was a success, anyway. At least I have something to show for it.

Anyways, now I'm in bed wondering what cats dream about - because the cat in the photo, Butterscotch, is asleep next to me and she's making a strange clicking noise that I've never heard before. Is she dreaming of snacking on a mouse? A bird? Is she grooming herself? If only I knew! I suppose dreams, particularly the dreams of animals, will remain one of life's biggest mysteries - for now.

I made the shorts cut-offs recently and I'm very pleased with how they turned out - I've been destroying way too many pairs of shorts lately - they're going to end up all looking the same!

What I'm wearing: shorts: thrifted, DIY, combat boots: urban outfitters, sweater and bag: thrifted, jewelry: vintage, forever 21

And here's a song from one of my favorite bands:

May 18

I'm so excited for the new Beach House album, Bloom - it came out just a few days ago, and it is supposed to be amazing! I haven't gotten around to listening to it quite yet, but this is a single from the album. They are wonderful <3

Yesterday I dip dyed a pair of shorts that I've had forever and I really like how they turned out! I ended up wearing them today! I also wore one of the items that I thrifted yesterday - an amazing oversized shirt. I just love the pattern on it so much:
